Dear Kelly,

I happened to receive a free copy of TEENAGE while at Singapore Polytechnic's Open House. I browsed through on the way home and read your column. I know it sounds rather shallow of me to say this, but I realised that the youths of my generation, more than any other, are filled with wrong influences from the media and their peers and the lifestyles of Party-going celebrities.

I was surprised that most of the readers that wrote in needed help with "B-G relationships", as you address them in the column. At the same time, I was impressed by the amount of sincerity and sensitivity you expressed through your answers. I found them practical and realistic as well.

But what I really want to say is, on behalf of the teenagers of Singapore, I want to sincerely thank you for all you have been doing all this time.

Thank you for your compassion toward us all.
Thank you for providing support and advice to those in need of it.
Thank you for investing your experience and knowledge into our lives.

I don't know if anyone has ever told you this, but I believe that you Are making a difference in many lives. I thank God that people like you are so willing to do so much for us youths.

I don't know how to say it enough.
Thank you.

Sincerely
Nigel

P.S. If there is any way I can help, I'm contactable at nigelchua@gmail.com

MRT Cadence
four fingers
sing
against the glass
as imaginary
speed moves
alongside
the subterranean darkness
a hollow rhythm,
like a weathered flute
whooshing across the
vacant underground
with its greys and
fluorescents
crackling along
concrete tracks
and eyelids
flutter in lieu
of sleep, closing
in tempo with
the crotchet rests of
heads bobbing along
on spines, bent over
like clefs
until the electronic
bell teases us
awake,
and the opera of
disembodied
voices
heeds us home.

Posting this here because

1) I think this video is influential, persuasive, and dangerous. Undoubtedly.
2) This is the easiest way for anyone to see the video, if you go officially through the YouTube website, you must first verify that you are 18.

Posting this here NOT because I believe in the message of the video. I think it is interesting material, I DO NOT think it is absolute truth.

I also acknowledge its implications on weaker minded individuals, however I do believe that it is important to have some knowledge on alternative viewpoints in our highly stable, highly protected multi-racial multi-religion society.

Once again, I do not think that the content of this video should be taken as absolute truth.
